Completely Surrounded By God's Blessings

Completely Surrounded By God's Blessings Several months ago, my Bible study group and I noticed various phrases that indicated the true child of God, the believer that has trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, is totally surrounded by God’s blessings on his life. This devotional is an attempt to glean from similar passages and see exactly what type of blessings our Heavenly Father has bestowed upon us. I do not know if there are any more similar phrases, but I found seven words or phrases along this theme. A. Prevent: The first one that comes to mind is from the Psalms: Psalms 21:3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness : thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head. Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines prevent as: “To go before; to precede; to favor by anticipation or by hindering distress or evil.” God’s goodness goes before God’s children, and prepares the way for many things He has in store for us. All the blessings we have from the Lord are because we ...

Will We Know Our Loved Ones In Heaven?

Will We Know Our Loved Ones In Heaven? Yes, I do believe we will recognize our loved ones for the following Biblical reasons: 1.  The Bible says that those we win to the Lord will be our crowns of rejoicing in Heaven – in other words we will be rejoicing in eternity spent together. 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20  For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For ye are our glory and joy. 2 Corinthians 1:14  As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your rejoicing, even as ye also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus. 2.  King David said one day he would go to Heaven see his son that had died – that certainly indicates he would know him. This thought of being reunited is what removed David’s grief. 2 Samuel 12:22-23  And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dea...

I Will Trust In Thee

I Will Trust In Thee The Blessings Of Assurance Isaiah 32:17  And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. I have to admit: out of all the books of the Bible, the books of Isaiah and Psalms are the ones I personally keep coming back to over and over, the ones I get the most blessings from.  (You will probably notice many references to these two books in my devotionals and studies.)  I am continually intrigued by the multitude of references to safety, trust, refuge, sanctuary, rock, shelter, fortress, among many others. This life is not easy, especially for the child of God. As Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 15:19,  If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.  Why did he say that? Because there are many trials that the Christian goes through, that the lost do not experience chastisement, pruning, refining, being made more like the Lord Jesus Christ. In light of ete...

Is God Limited By Our Past?

Is God Limited By Our Past? My purpose in this study is to exhort God's children to a greater level of trust in the Lord Jesus Christ; but, first, to do that we need to seriously look at where we are now, or may have been. We must look to the Great Physician for His diagnosis, and then put into practice the truths that we find. The cure starts with being honest with ourselves and with the Lord. (See Psalm 51:6) As we peer intently into the mirror of God's Word, we will clearly discern our reflection, and then be able to clean up any areas of our lives that need it. The question this study seeks to answer is: Is God limited? The immediate response of most Christians would be a resounding, "No!" But is that really true? If that answer was correct, why do so many professing Christians live like the Lord was limited in their own lives? Why do they say they believe in God's omniscience and omnipotence, but then conduct themselves as if these very truths had no practica...
