Does the King James Bible Teach Angels Mated With Humans In Genesis Six?
Many get their viewpoint of the devils (ie. fallen angels) mating with the women in Genesis 6 from the book of Enoch. I believe it is false theology, passed on from a few hyper-dispensationalists who add to the Word of God. They get it usually from one or more of three sources: either from the book of Enoch itself (which is Apocryphal writings, which contradict the Word of God), from the corrupt text of the modern versions (see below), or frankly from misreading Genesis 6:1-4; 2 Peter 2:4-6 and Jude 1:6-7. This article will deal with the second of these three, and Lord willing, I will add posts for the other two parts as well.
Verses from the NIV:
Gen 6:2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.
Gen 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
No wonder people that read modern versions or follow people that quote them think what is taught about the nephilim is true (instead of seeing the word simply means giants, like it says in the King James Bible). Also, this version clearly makes a distinction between the sons of God and humans. Right off the mark they are teaching the sons of God are not humans - therefore what must they be?
Whereas the language of the King James Bible simply shows a distinction between them.
Genesis 6:1-4 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
We need to go to other passages to find how the Bible uses the phrases “sons of God” and “daughter(s) of…”
Other passages show that “the daughters of” is usually a reference to the gods they believe in (eg. the philistines, belial, babylon, a strange god) - ie. sons of God were saved/believers (ie. from Heaven), and the daughters of men were children of men, of the earth (ie. not of God, lost).
Genesis 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Genesis chapter 4 is mostly a record of the line of Cain, the unbelievers. It shows the degneration and rebellion of Cain and his descendants before the flood. After that line is described, we read the following verses:
Genesis 4:25-26 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
A contrast is presented and now we see those who chose to trust the Lord for salvation - men calling upon the name of the Lord, like Romans 10:9-10, 13 states. Then Genesis 5 shows the line of Seth, which primarily consisted of believers, in contrast with the line of Cain. Look at all the names in each line and what they mean. Cain dwelt in the land of Nod, which means "Wandering," and the line descending from him consisted of unbelievers whose names literally mean the following:
The Line of Cain:
Irad - “Fugitive.”
Mehujael - “Grief of God.”
Methusael - "Infirmity."
Lamech - the seventh from Adam in Cain's line, the rebel; his name means “Conqueror" or "Overthrower, Wild Man." His wives: Adah - “Ornament, Beauty,” and Zillah - “Shade.”
Jabal - “Wanderer.”
Jubal - “Music, Sound.”
Tubalcain - “Flowing forth of Cain.”
Naamah - “Pleasant, Agreeable.”
All about rebellion and pleasing the flesh.
Compare with the line of Seth:
Cainan - Possessor or Purchaser (may also include the idea of Redeemer, one who purchases back)
Mahalaleel - Praise God or God Be Praised
Jared - He Descends or Coming Down
Enoch - Dedication
Methuselah - When He Dies, Then Comes Judgment or He Dieth And Judgment Sent Forth
Lamech - Conqueror
Noah - Rest

We also see the Lord God later referring to Abraham's spiritual descendants as the stars of the sky and his physical descendants as the dust or sand of the earth.
Stars - spiritual seed, children of Heaven - see Genesis 15:5; 22:17; 26:4.
Sand/dust - physical seed - see Genesis 13:16; 22:17; 28:14; 32:12.
So in Genesis 4, we have the line of Cain, the children of the earth or children of mankind (ie. of Adam),, ie. the lost; and in Genesis 5, we have the children of Heaven, of God, God's spiritual children, ie. the saved.

For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. The Old Testament is a history filled with intermarriages, the lost and the saved mingling together and creating untold problems in their spiritual walks, so much so that God has to give warning after warning.

Genesis Six is referred to in:
Matthew 24:37-39 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Luke 17:26-27 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Some final thoughts:
The sons of God were not fallen angels (see below), because angels do not procreate: See Matthew 22:30; Mark 12:25; Luke 20:34-36.
The Bible uses the term son of God in four ways:
1) Adam was a son of God, because he was specially created physically by God. (Luke 3:38) When he was created, he was perfect and sinless.
2) Good angels are called sons of God. (Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7) Angels were individually created (physically) perfect. (There is no race of angels.) The fallen angels, those who rebelled against God and followed Satan, are never referred to as sons of God.
3) Jesus Christ is the only-begotten Son of God. He was the only person that was ever born physically as a son of God (perfect, sinless, holy). (John 1:14, 18; 3:16-18)
4) Christians are born again spiritually as sons of God, when they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Some verses that demonstrate this are: John 1:12-13; Romans 8:14; Galatians 4:5-7.
In Genesis one, 10 times it says God made everything “after his kind.” All the species that the Lord God created in this universe bring forth after their own kind: That means trees bring forth trees, whales bring forth whales, birds bring forth birds, every living creature, including humans, bring forth the same kind of offspring. See Genesis 1:11, 12, 21, 24, 25.
Spirits (angels and devils) do not have flesh and bones and therefore cannot procreate with physical creatures (ie. creatures of flesh - see Genesis 6:3). See Luke 24:39 and Matthew 22:30.
Just some thoughts on this subject from the King James Bible. I can see now by looking at the NIV (and some other modern versions) where they get this theology. Before I became King James only, I also believed this wrong theology, and years later I remember trying to study it out in my KJB. Been so many years since I read modern versions (other than for research) that I forgot they read this way.
So people who say theology is not changed in modern versions or even that it doesn’t matter what version you read, they all teach the same doctrine - they have no clue. This doctrine of the nephilim (ie. fallen angels) mating with human women to create some sort of half demon offspring is truly unbiblical and DOES NOT come from the King James Bible.
Perhaps we should be more careful what modern ministries we listen to or follow. Even if we are King James Bible only, we can still be influenced by the corrupt doctrine of those who are not.
