Blessed Contrasts In Scripture

Blessed Contrasts In Scripture

1) The Lord is our crown of glory, and we are His.

Isaiah 28:5 In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of His people,

Isaiah 62:3-4 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

2) Jesus is the Light Of The World, and we are light in Him.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (See also John 9:5)

Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

3) The Lord is our portion, and we are His.

Lamentations 3:24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in Him.

Psalms 142:5 I cried unto Thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

Deuteronomy 32:9 For the LORD'S portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of His inheritance.

4) The Lord will sing to us, He will give us a song, and He is our song.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing.

Psalms 42:8 Yet the LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation.

5) The Lord will give us strength, and He is our strength.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Habakkuk 3:19 The LORD God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds' feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places.

6) The Lord will give us light, and He is our light.

Psalms 18:28 For Thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

7) The Lord Jesus Christ will give us peace, and He is our peace.

Numbers 6:24-26 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Ephesians 2:14 For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

8) Our hope is in the Lord, and He is our hope.

Psalms 39:7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in Thee.

1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

9) God's way is perfect, He makes our way perfect, and He is perfecting us.

Psalms 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him.

Psalms 18:32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

Psalms 138:8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of Thine own hands.

10) God's Word is our shield, and God Himself is our shield.

Psalms 91:4 He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Psalms 18:30 As for God, His way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him.

11) Christ gives us life, and He is our life.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Colossians 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory. (See also Deuteronomy 30:20 and Philippians 1:21)

12) Jesus gives us wisdom, and He is our wisdom.

Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

13) Jesus taught the way to life, prepared the way to the Father in Heaven, and He is the way.

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Hebrews 10:19-20 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh;

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

14) The Lord knows those who are His, He knows those who are trusting in Him, and eternal life is knowing Him.

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him.

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

In going through this older study, I realize that some of the passages and ideas that intrigued me in 2004 were later developed into fuller studies. Please click on the links (in the title of some of the sections) if you are interested in digging deeper into the Bible on that theme.
